Next year your car may contain a black box just like an airplane

The US Government has been polling US citizens on whether car manufacturers should install black boxes, similar to those installed on commercial airplanes.

As soon as 2013, the federal government may require car manufacturers to install black boxes that store information about your driving with the hope to making driving safer. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposed the new rule early in December and is looking for commentts on it’s website about the idea. The information the black boxes would record would focus on when a car is performing certain potentially dangerous actions such as swerving and abrupt braking.
